Founded in 2011, Jessica Lang Dance (JLD) quickly established itself as a force to be reckoned with in the world of dance. Since the company's inception, marked by Lang's receipt of a Joyce Theater Artists residency supported by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, JLD has risen rapidly, performing at world renowned venues and festivals including Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, Brooklyn Academy of Music's Next Wave Festival, the Kennedy Center and Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico.
JLD's performance at the Miller Center will feature "Thousand Yard Stare" a work which premiered in 2016 and is based on the name given to a traumatized soldier's unfocused gaze, described by the Chicago Sun-Times as, "...as remarkable evocation, minimal yet profound, of soldiers in formation at war. Moving and masterful."
